Little Mix’s newest album, LM5, captures listeners

LM5 is Little Mix’s fifth album, and was released on November 16. The British girl group has been around since they were put together on The X Factor UK in 2011. They are not well known in America, but they did tour the United States with Ariana Grande for her Dangerous Woman tour in 2017.

Their sound falls into the category of “pop”, but their latest album sends more of R&B vibes. The first song released before LM5 came out was “Woman Like Me” featuring Nicki Minaj. It is an upbeat song, with more contemporary R&B feels. This song sets the tone for the sound of the rest of the album.

There are many Caribbean undertones to the album as well. The drums of the islands are well heard in many of the songs. This is a new sound for Little Mix and they pull it off well. Part of the album also encompasses their old sound of mainstream pop, more than anything else, but the new sound is more mature and sexy for the group. I would almost prefer this album over the other four, just because it sounds like Little Mix has finally found the sound that allows all four members to shine.

These songs on the album have very strong beats that make your ear grasp onto. It’s so easy to find yourself subconsciously dancing to their music.

LM5 is a new sound from Little Mix, but it really flows with all four of their distinct voices. I loved the album and even would recommend for new and old listeners of the group.
