The 2019 spring sports season has sprung, and at the forefront of Riverside’s tremendous athletic efforts is the girls Varsity Softball-Fastpitch team. They have started great right off the bat with a 4-1 record. Their only loss coming to the hand of Auburn in a 1-0 nail-biter. They’ve shown fierce competitiveness thus far this season, as all of their games have ended with a score deficit of one, besides their blowout 11-3 victory over Lynden High School.

Another team that has had a strong start is the girls Varsity Tennis team. They have started off the season 4-2, and also had an excellent Jamboree performance. Their next game will be at home, versus their rival Auburn Mountainview, who has started the season off 3-3. Going into the game, there is no clear favorite, while Riverside’s girls may have one more win, their last two games were both within five points, one where they lost to Thomas Jefferson, and the other where they easily handled Decatur. Their goal this week must be consistency if they hope to remain in the top three of the NPSL-4A Olympic division.

All of Riverside’s sports have put in great efforts to start, but only time will tell to see if struggling teams will make a comeback, and if dominating teams can remain on top.
